Meet Josephine, the sassy New Yorker, who moved to Pottstown and believed in it so much that she bought a home and opened her own business right in the downtown— Lady Liberty Salon and Spa. If you haven’t stopped in to see her place, please do so. She has created the atmosphere and design of a high-end salon, without the pricing.
Jo is a certified psy-cosmologist (the study to unite the inner self with the external world), she has the ability to understand your needs to create your style.
She loves our community and wants to bring style and fashion to the downtown. She believes in inclusion and strives to bring people together.
In the future she plans to host classes to teach different techniques to help you style your own hair.
While designing her salon, her desire was to create the vibe of a bar. She wanted her clients to be able to sit back, relax, and socialize while there.
This led to her color bar. It looks and feels just like one. You can watch her mix your color from behind the bar or you can watch TV. She even added outlets with USB’s to charge your phones.
Why Lady Liberty for your name?
“I was born in Brooklyn, raised on Staten Island, and wanted a strong woman as my logo. I thought, how about the Statue of Liberty.” Her hashtag is #injowetrust, taken from the line “In God We Trust” that’s printed on money. It all fit together and she designed her logo based on the statue. (if you look closely, the hair flip resembles the nike swish.)
What made you pick Pottstown?
“I live here. I feel comfortable here.” She heard and saw the improvements happening in Pottstown and thought, “I need to be a part of that.”
She felt the area was ready for the style of a high-end salon and believed her clients would follow her here, and they did.
Jo is also a married mom of two little ones, Luke and Charlotte. Having her own business allows her to schedule her career around her family.
