POTTSTOWN, PA, SEPTEMBER 9, 2022 – With 750 tickets sold out in three weeks upon their release last spring – 250 more than the previous year – there was no doubt the fifth Fete en Blanc Pottstown event would remain a popular way for the community to mark the end of summer 2022. The picture-perfect weather for the event on Friday, Sept. 9 provided the ideal backdrop for the event for which all attendees dress all in white, as required for this event held in cities all over the world. Pottstown’s Fete organizers, Pottstown Area Economic Development and Hobart’s Run, strongly agree that the community spirit at the local “Party in White” was extraordinary. Attendees enjoyed beautiful, soothing music by Louis Rieger of Pottstown’s High Street Music Company and his ensemble featuring vocalist Jessy Kyle. They set up often elaborate white centerpieces and appetizer spreads while supporting a slew of local restaurants.
“This fifth annual Pottstown Fete En Blanc is a wonderful celebration of ongoing, notable progress in the Borough,” said Peggy Lee-Clark, Executive Director of Pottstown Area Economic Development, noting the first such Pottstown fete welcomed only two dozen attendees. “This evening represents so much more than a social occasion during which we bid farewell to summer,” she continued. “The evening’s success, from the guest count to our growing number of sponsors – including 16 new participants this year — reflects the collaboration, connections, and forward focus taking place in this great town. We could not do this without the generous businesses and individuals who support Fete. Pottstown Area Economic Development (PAED) & Hobarts Run are committed to revitalization through economic and community development within the Borough,” she said.
Twila Fisher, Executive Director of the Hobart’s Run neighborhood improvement initiative, also praised Pottstown’s increasingly collaborative and hopeful spirit. Today in Pottstown, she said, “You will find a community of people who work hard, love well, fight for what they believe in, and know they are better together than alone. They walk with purpose and ‘get stuff done.’ There is still work to do, of course, but as we approach autumn, let’s hold onto our hope and stay the course,” Fisher added.
Cathy Skitko, Communications and Community Relations Director for Hobart’s Run, believes positive vibes are winning over negativity in Pottstown — even when the community has had to come together to help victims of recent tragedies and rally behind causes supporting residents facing great need. She quoted Coretta Scott King who wrote that “The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members. This event is a great time to talk with others about how Pottstown can grow and act with even more compassion…Talk about how to support a local nonprofit; volunteer to pick up trash because you care about our collective space; research ways to make a difference in our residential and small business communities.”
Plans already are in the works for 2023’s Fete en Blanc. People interested in the September 2023 event should follow social media for Pottstown Area Economic Development and Hobart’s Run as the date will be announced in Spring 2023. Requests for sponsors will open May 1, and individual tickets should go on sale June 1.
