POTTSTOWN, PA – On September 24, 2022 Veterans Community Day took place at Veterans’ Island in Pottstown’s Memorial Park. It was a beautiful day to honor those who have served our country. The program included a fly-over, vintage armed service vehicles on display, procession of bagpipes, the presentation of awards, including the Glass Tear Hero Award to three recipients, as well as a variety of speakers and presenters.
Veteran’s Island Project at Memorial Park in the Borough of Pottstown was founded with “[the] intention to create a respectful, peaceful, and inspiring place to publicly honor those who have served our country and sacrificed so much…Through eye-catching memorials, public art, landscaping, and educational information…Would serve as yet another anchor, along with the Carousel of Pottstown, Manatawny Green Mini-Golf, Trilogy BMX Bike Park, the Colebrookdale Railroad, Montgomery County Community College North Hall Gallery, Pottsgrove Manor, and the Schuylkill River Trail, as a destination for visitors as well as our local community…”
PAED is proud to champion the Tourism & Recreation District throughout the Borough of Pottstown, and Veteran’s Island project is one integral part of that District. Thank you to the Veterans’ Island Project team, and everyone who did their part to make the day special, and continues to work tirelessly to ensure this unique memorial “island project” will be a place for visitors to honor our veterans for many years to come.
