New York’s Dwight City Group is going all in on Pottstown. The developer is turning the former underutilized factory at 274 North Hanover Street into 85 new apartments.
The redevelopment is part of Dwight City Group’s expanding suburban footprint and is viewed as a milestone by Pottstown Area Economic Development (PAED).
Just blocks away at 30 North Hanover Street, the company has also acquired the former Pottstown Mercury building, with plans to convert the historic property into 25 apartments. Together, the two projects will bring 110 new units adjacent to downtown, helping to draw new residents who can support local businesses and strengthen the borough’s long-term economy.
Dwight City Group has emphasized honoring Pottstown’s history, exploring ways to incorporate nods to the borough’s industrial past and iconic buildings into its redevelopment projects while creating fresh, livable spaces.
Founded in 2018 as the development arm of Dwight Capital, Dwight City Group has garnered attention in Philadelphia for its redevelopment projects, including the Hahnemann University Hospital towers and a former University of the Arts building.
In Pottstown, CEO Judah Angster sees the same potential. “We are really excited for these projects,” he said. “At Dwight City Group, we take pride in our partnerships with the communities we serve. We appreciate the knowledge and support we received from PAED in Pottstown.”
