Blighted Former Pottstown VFW Post 780 Listed for Sale

POTTSTOWN, January 16, 2025 – Some of the challenges in economic revitalization of a 270+ year old town often include long-vacant buildings. A building’s “story” has complexities that require research, resources, and patience. Pottstown Area Economic Development’s (PAED) efforts in the revitalization are integral in moving challenging buildings forward to the next step. 530 E. High Street, the former Pottstown VFW Post 780 is one example of that effort. With the building’s blighted and unsafe condition, Pottstown was in need of a solution. PAED evaluated numerous potential solutions, prepared various proposals, and consulted with key individuals and organizations for many months. The building was formerly owned by an association who had no local leadership any longer in existence. This added another layer to the complexity. Through its efforts, PAED ultimately connected with the State VFW, who was unaware of the length of the vacancy and the condition of the building. This resulted in them taking possession of the building and listing it for sale. PAED is grateful to the State VFW for assisting in taking this first productive step on reimagining the building.
