All Month Long – Holiday Planter Competition
Another tradition in Pottstown’s Downtown is the Holiday Planter Competition. This year’s participation is the highest we have seen in several years. The local businesses and organizations “adopt and decorate” a planter. It has become a unique and meaningful tradition that creates interest for visitors, makes the planters appealing after the downtown Spring/Summer flowers have been cleared away, and gives an opportunity for the organizations and businesses to share their chosen theme. So, while you are “strolling” around downtown, make sure you visit these 40 planters, located on High Street, 100-300 blocks, Hanover Street, and along the PART Bus Terminal, near Smith Family Plaza. Planters are decorated no later than November 30 at 12noon, judging takes place December 1 and 2, and winners announced at the Tree Lighting on Saturday, December 3, just before the tree is lit. The planters remain decorated, weather pending, throughout the month of December.
